HarmonyOS (known in China as Hongmeng OS)

HarmonyOS, which smartphones, tablets and wearables will receive it?

As we know Huawei , forced by international events , is developing its own smartphone operating system, HarmonyOS (known in China as Hongmeng OS) . In fact, defining it “for smartphones” is an understatement: the Chinese giant’s goal is to reach any class of device and any type of interface, from IoT to smart TVs, from smartwatches to computers.

Some products equipped with the system are already available on the market, but the next two years should be crucial for the smartphone segment. The official roadmap, in fact, provides that initially HarmonyOS 2.0 will support devices with a maximum of 128 MB of RAM, therefore IoT devices such as wearables and speakers. In 2021, support will be extended to 4 GB of RAM, so it will begin to include entry level tablets and smartphones; and by the end of the year the RAM limit will be completely removed, paving the way for more powerful devices.

Samsung Galaxy S20 wireless charging

Wireless charging problems for the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20

Some wireless charging problems recorded on Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 specimens are not to be considered negligible. Although this is not a very widespread anomaly, on the official Samsung forum and on others relating to the smartphone world, there are specific testimonials to about. Precisely the charging procedure would not be successful at all or in any case in fits and starts, with a series of continuous resumes and pauses.

Samsung Galaxy S20 wireless charging

The well-known site SamMobile reports a sort of overall report relating to the problems of wireless charging with the two top of the range. In particular, it would seem that only the Ultra models of the current flagships are affected precisely by the difficulties. The anomalies would then manifest themselves when third-party accessories are used for the charging procedure: however, the latter have always worked in the past but, on the contrary, not at this time.

What could be the causes attributable to the malfunctions? It would seem that the wireless charging problems have arisen following some software updates, identified as the security patches of the months of September and October. The builds of the packages reported in the testimonials of the users are many and correspond to different models of the devices, distinguished by country of belonging and operator’s brand. If so, the difficulties would certainly be overcome with a new intervention by the developers but we do not know exactly when this will arrive.

For the moment, the anomalies described so far do not seem to have particularly affected the Italian users. However, the situation is constantly evolving and it is by no means certain that there are also reports of owners of European devices with the same difficulties. Probably in the coming days we will get new details on this, perhaps an official feedback from the same manufacturer through its channels. Any new news will be reported as soon as it is available.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10

What are the 5 top smartphones to take better 2020 photos

If there is something that Smartphones have changed, it is certainly the way it has made us all amateur photographers. The cameras have become more and more powerful and optimized, the automatic modes more and more intelligent and equipped. The fact is, however, that with all this accessories, not all cell phones are the same. Some tend to take better photos , some have a more detailed Zoom.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10

But let’s see together what are the products that, during 2019, surprised us the most:

Google Pixel 4

Now defined as “the iPhone with Android“, the Pixel 4 is a mobile phone that has practically everything: a powerful chipset, lots of memory and an extremely powerful 12+16Mpx camera. The secret lies in the passive optimization that is implemented for each photo taken. Even if they are not lenses with an exaggerated amount of Megapixels, the result is truly refined. The various modes, such as HDR or night shooting, make the experience comfortable and immediate. The price is still a bit heavy (830 for the normal version, 1000 for the XL) but in many cases it is worth it.

A good alternative is also the 3 series, as well as the cheaper Pixel 3a. The price is much lower, but the quality of the photos is still higher than many competitors.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10

As well as the Galaxy Note Plus version, the Galaxy Note has a triple 12 + 12 + 16Mpx camera with a large range of effects. Each lens has its precise purpose, the Plus version also includes the TOF for taking photos with a certain depth. Certainly the final result of each photo is excellent, even if it cannot compete with some of the best results such as the Google Pixel 4. But nothing can truly fight the refinement of this Smartphone, gigantic and that exudes quality from every pore … even if at the cost of almost 1000 euros for the Plus version.

A good alternative to this brand and model is certainly the Galaxy S10. This series has for some time offered 12 + 12 + 16Mpx cameras with almost the same level of quality as the Note 10. Clearly, with a new model on the horizon, it is easy to find this “old” model at very reduced prices.

Huawei P30 Pro

Years have passed since the limelight of the Chinese house, nowadays much less appreciated than in the past on the photographic factor. Yes, it has a triple 40 + 8 + 20Mpx camera with very interesting features, but the software improvements tend to be lower than the competition. However, the fact remains that it can take exceptional quality photos, also thanks to the included TOF sensor and the possibility of taking photos with a 5X optical zoom. In the case it can also go to 10X through a hybrid zoom that the house guarantees Lossless (ie without loss of detail). And at a price that, on the 640 euros, is very accessible.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10

Although it costs much less than many other competitors (477 euros), the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is capable of taking photos that almost manages to compete with the best brands in this category. Maybe everything is due to the 108Mpx sensor, combined with a quadruple combination of 12 + 5 + 20 + 2Mpx lenses … but clearly said, it also shows limitations in other territories, with a very limited optical zoom (promises 5, but in actually only offers 3X). This mobile phone has an original composition, but perhaps too “experimental” in certain aspects, especially when it is impossible to exploit its 108Mpx properly.

Oppo Reno 10x Zoom

In many ways, it is the direct opponent of the Huawei P30 Pro. Its name comes from the function that allows you to obtain up to 10X of Zoom (hybrid, optical and Lossless), but it remains also a excellent mobile phone in general. A bit difficult to procure and with a rather high cost (often it reaches 800 euros), the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is that mobile phone model that manages to beat the competition in many fields, but one must try with far too much dedication.

Once the app to hide photos and videos in Windows has been downloaded, we run it, since it is not necessary to install it, that is, it is a portable app.

How can you hide photos and videos on Android Devices

Currently, one of the issues that we are most concerned about, or should be concerned about, is the privacy of personal documents that we have stored on our devices. A very common scenario, and one that irritates us quite powerfully, is when we lend the computer to another person, colleague, friend or even a family member. As soon as you finish updating your social network, or what you needed to do, chances are that you will browse our personal videos and photos as if they were owned by anyone who stopped by and wanted to see them.

Those things are ours, and no matter how close we are to the person who commits this excess, a difficult feeling surrounds us. So that this does not happen again, we have to implement a system in the computer that allows us to let other people use it without running the risk of them seeing things that belong to our privacy.

Once the app to hide photos and videos in Windows has been downloaded, we run it, since it is not necessary to install it, that is, it is a portable app.

For this there are several methods, being that of hiding videos and photos the safest and easiest to perform. Of course, these procedures will depend exclusively on the type of devices we use. However, in this post we have covered the main operating systems of today Android OS.

Hide photos and videos: Privacy and security assured

One of the few disadvantages that portable devices have is in relation to privacy. Basically it is due to two main reasons, the need to be connected to the Internet, and the ability to be portable, which invites us to leave them at the disposal of anyone who passes by and wants to know what we have stored in them.

Regarding the first point, this is so because in order to connect to the Internet, we must make use of Wi-Fi connections that are not always the safest, such as those at an airport or a café. Otherwise, that is, through the 3G or 4G connection, it could be much more expensive. However, this puts us at risk, since we do not know who may be snooping on those open networks.

But even worse risk is leaving the phone, computer or tablet in places where we know that there are people affected by knowing what others keep on their devices. Of this class of people there are many, they surpass hackers in number and they are also everywhere, perhaps next to us, without us noticing.

An effective solution to avoid prying eyes is to hide all the contents of the cell phone that we do not want others to see. To hide for example photos and videos on Android, there are two very effective methods: Use the integrated option that some phone models have, or use Google Play apps that let us hide photos and videos simply and quickly.

Hide photos and videos on Android without apps

The first method is to use the options to hide content offered by certain latest generation cell phones such as some models from Samsung, LG, Huawei or Xiaomi. Next we will teach you how to hide photos and videos on Samsung and LG phones.

How to hide photos and videos on a Samsung S7 cell phone

Step 1

The first thing we have to do is scroll to “Settings> Privacy and Security> Private Mode”.

Step 2

Once there we select the type of access privately that we want. At this point we can choose between the options “Pattern”, “PIN” or “Password with Fingerprints”.

Step 3

It should be noted that when we activate the “Private Mode” every time we need to see the protected content we will have to introduce the block method that we selected previously. Likewise, a padlock icon will be activated in the notification bar, indicating that private content is accessible.

Step 4

Once this is done, click on one of the photos in the gallery and look for the photos or videos that we want to hide.

Step 5

After that, click on the “More” button , located in the upper right and select “Move to Private” in the drop-down list.

How to hide photos and videos on an LG cell phone

Step 1

We scroll down to “Settings> Fingerprints and Security> Content Blocking”. There we select the type of lock that we want to use: “Pattern”, “Password”, or if we wish to do so, activate the recognition using fingerprints .

Step 2

We scroll to Gallery and select the photos and videos that we want to hide. It should be noted that we can also create a new folder, move the photos and videos there and then lock the newly created folder.

Step 3

Click on the icon of the three points located in the upper right.

Step 4

After that, we select “More> Block”.

It should be noted at this point that if we have configured the automatic upload of photos and videos to any cloud storage service such as OneDrive or Google Drive, it is possible that they will be stored in these services before we can block them, therefore they will remain exposed in the cloud.

Hide photos and videos on Android with 3rd party Google Play apps

In the event that our cell phone does not have any way to hide photos and videos, a good way to do it is through third-party apps, such as those we can find on Google Play.

Of these there are several, however two of the best are Keep Safe Vault and Vaulty, for capacity, security and ease of use.

Keep Safe Vault

This is one of the most popular Android photos and videos hiding applications on the market. Without a doubt, the best feature of Keep Safe Vault is its ease of use, since we only have to open the app and select which Android photos and videos we want to hide. To access these images and videos, all we have to do is enter the PIN, pattern or fingerprint, depending on the method we have selected to hide them.

Other features of this app to hide videos and photos on Android are, for example, the possibility of creating backup copies of photos and videos using a personal cloud, which is also encrypted. We can even send photos and videos safely, which will disappear after 20 seconds.

If you wish, you can download Keep Safe Vault by clicking on this link.

Another of the best applications to hide photos and videos on Android, which is also completely free and very easy to use. To get the most out of it, all we have to do is select the photos and videos that we want to hide and store them in the spaces for it, called “Vaults”, which we can enter later by entering the password or PIN.

With regard to these vaults, it is necessary to emphasize that we can create as many as necessary, each one secured with a different password or PIN , which greatly facilitates the task of keeping all the photos and videos that we want to hide tidy.

Other features offered by this app is the possibility of creating an encrypted backup of photos and videos on Google Drive. In addition to this, every time someone tries to use the app, a photo will be taken, which will be very useful to separate snoopers from educated people.

If you wish, you can download Vaulty by clicking on this link.

replaceable batteries

Electric cars like old smartphones: replaceable batteries arrive

After analyzing the advantages for Diesel cars compared to EVs, an important revolution comes in favor of electric cars with replaceable batteries. They change the batteries.

In the early days of the so-called Smart Era, phones were able to change batteries easily. Now everything is integrated with a similar situation which is paradoxically inverse also in the world of electric cars. The concept of interchangeable battery is gradually making its way, starting from the assumption of components integrated by the manufacturer.

replaceable batteries

In the future of motoring there is a return to the simplicity of the past which, lately, is also advancing as regards the smartphone segment. after all, the cars are seen by many as real motorized technological jewels that need a simplification of the maintenance processes. Here is what will happen if replaceable batteries are in real life.

Cars with replaceable electric batteries

After analyzing the advantages for Diesel cars compared to EVs, an important revolution arrives in favor of the latter category. From distant China the idea of interchangeable battery cars was born.

Such a re-enactment of the electronic past entails a whole series of indisputable advantages. In the context of “small caliber” electric cars there is the possibility of having a continuity of use during charging . Since the presence of power supplies of a few KW requires a long stop, it is conceivable to bypass the problem with a set of portable batteries to be replaced when needed or in an emergency.

A scenario similar to the previous one also applies well to the context of electric micro mobility in which milliamps now play an essential role. Standby by several hours may become only a clouded memory.

In addition, a similar solution also confirms a reduction in costs of the same car during the purchase phase. In fact, a long-term rental solution of the supports could be configured on the basis of the personal needs of the individual customer with ad hoc plans to save significant amounts of money and maintenance costs.

Not only will the way we create bitcoins change , but there will also be a significant impact on the entire cryptocurrency market.

Global crisis, Bitcoin production also decreases

Bitcoin will be turned upside down. For many consumers, cryptocurrency has become a way to save money and feel immune to financial crises.

BitcoinJust for the third time in 11 years, bitcoin is going through a period of profound change. Not only will the way we create bitcoins change , but there will also be a significant impact on the entire cryptocurrency market.

Not only will the way we create bitcoins change , but there will also be a significant impact on the entire cryptocurrency market.

The mathematical code behind the cryptocurrency allows the production of only 21 million bitcoins and nothing can change this data artificially. More than 18 million have already been produced through a process called mining , whereby new cryptocurrency units are generated by computer networks programmed to solve complex mathematical puzzles. The imminent halving of the cryptocurrency, however, is going to make this process considerably more difficult.

The event, sometimes referred to as “halving”, halves production so that cryptocurrency mining generates only 50% of the yield. It takes place approximately once every four years. This time it is expected to take place on May 12th. It is not determined or governed by a centralized body. Indeed, it is encoded in the bitcoin blockchain that was created in 2008 by its creator Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin was developed as an antidote to perceived flaws in the consolidated financial system, which had contributed to the global crisis of 2007-2008.

Bitcoin: the value and production rate of the famous cryptocurrency changes

The previous halves have led to sharp price increases and market volatility for several cryptocurrencies, while traders adjust to the new production limits of the world’s most valuable virtual currency. The halving in 2012 saw the value of bitcoin increase 80 times, while that of 2016 preceded a 300% increase in that value. The simplest explanation for these price increases is the demand-supply economic principle .

If the offer suddenly falls but the demand remains unchanged, the price will inevitably rise. But the decentralized and semi-anonymous nature of bitcoin implies that it is difficult to attribute gains or losses to a specific event. The halving of May bitcoins comes amid a global economic slump. Although it is not yet clear whether the collapse of the markets is bringing money from traditional assets to cryptocurrency. Some analysts say that bitcoin is becoming a gold-like asset, investors may already look at it as an alternative store of value.

What have the best quality of video? We have multiple alternatives when it comes to making video calls , such as Skype , Hangouts

Hangouts vs Skype: The best Apps for videoconferencing and online teamwork

In recent years, the dynamics of business have changed a lot. The trend is that, increasingly, workers need a flexible and accessible environment from anywhere in the world. It is for this reason that videoconferencing and online teamwork are increasingly necessary. And, for this, you need good software (and hardware, although we already talked about it in the Hangouts meet post : what it is and what hardware it includes ) that allows you to communicate with your team quickly and easily. Google Hangouts and Skype can be good options, fully compatible with your devices (Chrome or not).

Do you want to know the differences between both applications? In this post we help you decide which one is best for you.

What have the best quality of video? We have multiple alternatives when it comes to making video calls , such as Skype , Hangouts

Differences between Hangouts and Skype for Business

1. App installation

One of the main differences between Hangouts and Skype for Business is the need to install the software on your Chrome device. In case of having a Chrome device, Hangouts is already included , so it is not necessary to install anything . On the other hand, many Android smartphones also have this application by default. On the other hand, Skype requires an installation on Chrome devices, although it does not require a lot of effort either since you can find it in the Chrome Web Store .

2. Synchronization with your calendar and multiple forms of access

On the other hand, it is important to note that with Google Hangouts you can access video calls in multiple ways. For one, you can sync your G Suite data and calendars . This allows you to create events in Google Calendar and send the invitations by Gmail. Thus, anyone who accepts your invitation can access them directly with a single click. In addition, if you have meeting devices , such as Hangouts Meet Hardware , you can also access them directly. Other forms of access are access codes of meetings, videoconferencing systems third , thedial the phone or the shortcut from the video call URL .

Instead, Skype for Business only allows you access from an event or email, direct dialing of a phone or URL.

3. Screen Sharing

Both options have the possibility of sharing the desktop or screen. This can be very useful during your meetings, since you can share and comment live on your presentations. However, from Hangouts it can be much easier and with a higher quality than with Skype for Business.

4. Recording of video calls and live broadcast

Google Hangouts (with the Enterprise plan) goes one step further and gives you the option to record your video calls. This can be very useful for your business if you want to record your presentations and then show them to your team members. You can also take advantage of using your video calls to record and store training material . If you want to know more about this possibility or how to do it, you can read this Google post .

Also, if you want to broadcast these video conferences and events live on YouTube, with Google Hangouts you can also do it. For more information on this process click here .

5. Usability of the app

If you are already a regular user of Google, you will know that one of its main objectives is to make day-to-day work easier . In this case, the Hangouts app has a better user experience and is much easier to use. Therefore, for a user who has never used it or is unfamiliar with video conferencing software, the process of adapting to it can be much faster.

Do you want to try G Suite?

Hangouts vs Skype Which one do you choose?

As we have already said, both applications are fully compatible with any of your devices.
